, if not dangerous out there. so heads up for 270. let's go to northern virginia, interstate 66, inbound, i'll step out of the way. the picture tells the story, because it is just coming down in buckets out there right now. now we do have word of an accident in maryland. 95 southbound near ruth 212, calvert and beltsville exit. rescue crews should be on the scene. back to virginia, 95 northbound between triangle andunn fries, tractor trailer accident. i-70 remains blocked before you get to baltimore, eastbound because of an accident involving a truck. hopefully that will be reopened according to police maybe in the next hour. but again, that's the story of the morning. joe? >> jerry, thank you very much. a lot of folks in the district are prepared for severe weather. the d.c. department of public works handed out some sandbags yesterday in southeast washington. this move is to help keep homes and businesses from flooding in low-lying areas. d.c. officials remind people to stay away from fallen wires, call 311 forany downed trees or rge limbs causing damage or blocking roadways and sidewalks. >>> as

, west virginia this morning, weatherwatchers reporting it in the 50s to near 60 there. and around virginia's tide water and the lower eastern shore in the upper 60s. over the last 12 hours the storms have dissipated and a weak area of high pressure holding for us from maine down to georgia. and we'll have this dry pattern, and the excessive heat continuing tay and tomorrow. now today's record is 98. we probably won't be near that. but likely near or perhaps exceed the record tomorrow, which is at 94. and then on saturday, a dry front coming through, we'll usher in a shift in our wind. that will bring in some cooler air om the north and winds shift into the east on sunay with some clouds rolling in. small chance of a shower and much cooler. >> time to take a live look at this hour on the maryland side. capitol beltway near route four. pretty quiet, just down the road on the beltway, route 5 on the inner loop, wo offant accident where authorities are headed over right now. pop over to virginia, right now on the capital beltway, just off the springfield interchange we're okay. this i

in the mountains of west virginia. ny locations there in the upper 40s. eastern shore, low to mid-60s. southeastirginia near 70. and we have another plume of moisture coming our way into eastern north carolina. leading edge of the rain associated wh a developing tropical storm. very strong upper level windows blowing 75 miles per hour. they're going to string it northward and bring it in this afternoon. we could have heavy rain, enough to cause flooding by this time tomorrow morning and the ponding of water. we'll have temperatures this afternoon before any rain arrives. once the rain commences it will drop back into the 60s. and some of the rain, again, as i mentioned could cause flooding is time tomorrow morning through midday thursday. we could get three or four inches out of this. drying out and cooling down as we get into the weekend. jerry, how is the traffic? >> doing pretty well. that's a good start. 395. no worries. everything looking good. let's head over and check out i-270. at the moment, everything moving along nicely. frederick to clarksburg, south toward the capital bel
was actually paul warren pardus, age 50 of arlington, virginia. they say he pulled a semiautomatic pistol from his pants and shot the physician in the stomach. >> the doctor collapsed just outside the doorway of the room and mr. davis was last seen running into the room, brandishing the handgun in the direction of his mother who was confined to the bed. >> reporter: fox news and the baltimore sun are identifying the wounded physician as david cohen, an orthopedic surgeon. >> he was talking and everything like that and i mean he looked -- he appears to be fine to me. >> reporter: meantime nobody knew for certain what was happening inside room 873. >> my boss came running in and he told me exactly what happened, that there was a guy running around with a gun and to stay put. >> reporter: the crisis was over around 1:30. >> we were able to see that mr. davis was down on the floor suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and that his mother was also unresponsive in her bed. >> reporter: police calling it a murder suicide. now the alleged gunman's mother has been identified as jean davis, not sure

three days. heads-up in northern virginia. a new traffic pattern in place a a busy intersection in ty >>> crime alert. eight people have been shot over the weekend in ward 4 in the district. this violence began just after midnight on friday with one person shot in the 600 block of longfellow streetnorthwest. fewer than five hours later, a woman was caught in gunfi near 9th and deindicator street. four people shot on satuay night in the 700 block of sheprd. that's about a block away from a police substation. two people were shot in the 100 block of kennedy street northwest before sunrise. we have checked with d.c. police and they say they do not know of any arrest in y shootings. >>> police on the hunt for a person who murdered a 21-year-old woman in the district. this happened around 3:30 yesterday morning along bruce place. ashley mccray is the young woman in the far right in this picture. it was takent the georgetown store worked. th found the 21-year-old inside a car early saturday morning where she had been shot. she was rushed to the hospital where shwas pronounced dead. >> every

in virginia are warning people who use onine dating sites this morning after they say a woman was sexually assaulted by a man she met online. according to the loudoun county sheriff's office, 34-year-old john evans met the 37-year-old victim on the site back in june. in july she went to his home where officials say he held her against her will, and sexually assaulted her. sheriff's investigators are now concerned this woman was not evans' first victim. >> a situation like this, it's the same as someone who's been scammed. they don't want the embarrassment of someone knowing they've been scammed so they don't say anything. that's how these perpetrators continue to get by with their crimes. they don't come forward. if anybody is familiar with this person we'd certainly like to hear from them. >> eharmony released a statement saying it's, quote, deeply saddened to hr about this terrible incident. the website also said it immediately closed evans' account and notified all of his matches not to communicate with him. >>> the company that hires metro access drivers is taking a closer look at how
